The researchers’ algorithms pay close attention to small details, such as a user’s likes and how often they log on, and are able to accurately predict a person’s personality, including their most intimate traits. If a computer system could discover a wealth of information about a person through a single social media website, think about the possible ramifications if a person leaves behind digital footprints through other activities on the Internet.
